InsideMetals makes it easy for it's visitors to find specific classifications of gold stocks and mineral producers, as follows:

Gold producers

Gold producers reported on must be a producing company that has at least 40% of their sales from precious metals. The requirement that each company must have production and sales of precious metals allows the financial analysis to be based on real earnings. The staff of Whitney & Whitney Inc. includes experienced operating geologists, mining engineers, metallurgists, and mineral economists who are highly qualified to review source documents and report on issues deemed material to investors. The source data for InsideMetals.com is gathered by Whitney & Whitney Inc.'s experienced mining professionals from annual reports, quarterly reports, press releases, regulatory filings, and technical reports about each company. 

Mineral Producers

Mineral Producers must be producing companies with more than 60% of their sales from non-precious metals. Sales must be at least $1 million per year. The requirement that each company must have production and sales allows financial analysis to be based on real earnings. These companies are generally non-precious metal mining companies that mine many different types of minerals, including coal, uranium, tar sands, and oil shale. Even though many commodities are covered, these companies, as a group are relatively few in number.

Junior Gold

  • A Gold Prospector is a company with none of the above defined resources, but with one or more properties with good geological targets based upon geochemical, geological, and geophysical studies. Indicated targets are gold/precious metal bearing.

  • A Gold Explorer is a company that has drill indicated/measured resources using Canadian and/or U.S. SEC definitions on at least one property, but has not yet advanced the property to a status where the contained metals can be classified as proven and probable mineable reserves based upon a feasibility study.

  • A Gold Developer is a company not yet in production with proven and probable mineable reserves on at least one property that are based upon a pre-feasibility study/or feasibility study.

Junior Minerals

  • A Mineral Prospector is a company with no defined resources, but with one or more properties with good geological targets based upon geochemical, geological, and geophysical studies. Indicated targets are for non-precious metals and minerals.
